Creating a Pathway for Youth Empowerment and Developed City Goals !

As a part of my project-making challenge on targeting SDGs and UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Hack the Solution Hackathon I was looking for an optimum utilization of human resources that would undoubtedly lead to considerable degree of economic development of the country. Unengaged human resources signify that a section of the society is without any source of income. Hence they experience misery and starvation.

Despite of making all the necessary efforts daily wage-workers are in cumbersome situation to fight with their expectations with the Government Policies and fulfill their day-to-day requirements . So, we planned to choose the wide areas and collect all the necessary survey results possible to come up with an effective solution to the problem.

Keeping in mind the Challenges faced by the 70% population of the country who is under-paid or not getting a suitable platform, capital to expand/promote their small businesses(small-scale industries) or can't find any appropriate partnership or investors in their business shall be introduced by the most relevant companies or organizations who are open to provide such services even in the rural areas.

MY EXPERIENCES DURING HACKATHON -

As it was my first hackathon which was virtual in all aspects and a lot of tasks to be accomplished in the two-day marathon was a zestful experience which compelled me to explore more about how a team works on different domains of the project to deliver the right ideas that we were willing to impart. We as a team were developing a web-based application to eradicate the communication gap between the two-parties for economic revival of the small-scale as well as big industries during the pandemic situation and put them together.

The first day was hectic, because I have been working remotely with the people whom I never met before. So, the discussions were prolonged on what things we are going to add up as a featured work into the project and assigning tasks to all the teammates, online meeting and focusing back again to our respective jobs was a protracting task. Some of us were indulged in designated areas working on our slides and presentation, some were in the common area getting as much feedback from the advisors as possible.

I have heard earlier about hackathons a hype that it includes everyone with expertise in developing skills and professional experiences of handling the various software development technologies, that this is especially true for a university full of engineering students. However, it was my first ever experience of hackathon and felt the essence of team-spirit and an ever-lasting impact of leading responsibilities. Before this, I had the common misconception that a hackathon only involves coding for an entire day, which now completely vanished as I participated into it.

Of course, a part of the hackathon experience is networking. (I mean, I was basically stuck with them in the same area for the entirety of the event). Even though everyone was busy perfecting their prototype and bringing their ideas to life throughout the event, we still managed to exchange our thoughts and I realised the benefits of group discussion on various topics in making difference. I made new acquaintances during team formation and got to know along the way. The resultant of the fusion of ideas of each one of us really contributed in constructing the best out of us.

It's obvious that , working hours without sleep and making presentation would sound nerve-wrecking to most of us.Also,I earned a great experience practicing on some online platforms like TechGig, a few weeks before the hackathon began and Know my competencies well so that I can start right away when the hackathon begins. And this is definitely an experience that I would never forget. Though my team didn’t make it into the top 3 finalist, we are pumped and ready for the next hackathon. This was the perfect opportunity for me to gain a memorable hackathon experience. Awaiting for more wonderful experiences like these!

Last but not the least I would appreciate the efforts of DSC community for organising such an amazing Hackathon !
